Kyoritsu Tart Mix 130g

Make a crisp and delicious tart crust easily at home.

Ingredients (for one 18 cm tart pan or eight 6.5 cm mini tart pans)

• Tart Mix: 130 g
• Unsalted butter: 50 g
• Egg yolk: 1

Before you start

• Bring the egg yolk and butter to room temperature.
• If using a pan without a removable bottom, lightly grease it with extra butter (not included in the measured amount).

Directions

1. Put the butter in a bowl and mix with a rubber spatula until creamy.
2. Add the egg yolk and mix well.
3. Add the mix powder (remove the desiccant packet first) and gently combine as if cutting through the mixture. When it becomes crumbly, press it against the sides of the bowl and continue mixing until no dry powder remains.
4. Gather the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and roll it into an even circle about 4 mm thick (about 21 cm in diameter). Place the dough over the tart pan and press it neatly into the bottom and sides.
   • For mini tart pans: divide the dough among the pans and press evenly from bottom to edges to about 3 mm thickness.
5. Prick the bottom of the dough all over with a fork, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
6. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
7. Remove the wrap and bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes.
   • For mini tarts: bake for 15–20 minutes.
   • Baking time may vary slightly depending on your oven.

Cool on a wire rack, remove from the pan, and decorate with custard cream or fruit if desired.
